I live in North Carolina, in a small town near the southeastern coast. I am
married, and have been for 14 years, as of February 3, 2004.
I collect whales, and I have whales made
of all sorts of materials. To name just a few-*S*- pewter, brass, glass,
ceramic, posters, pictures, pins, (I have one from the Virgin Islands made
of mother of pearl), earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and even a soap whale.
Since I have been collecting for so many years now, people bring me whales
from all over the WORLD!! My parents-in-law do quite a bit of traveling.
They have brought me whales from Jamaica, Africa, China, and I even have
one from England. It is a lot of fun to look at them and remember where
they came from. I have one that is made from the ash of Mt. St. Helens out
in Washington State--when it erupted years ago, they made all kinds of
stuff out of it to sell, and my grandfather found a whale figurine someone had made. I have whales
all over my house, and I am always on the lookout for whales--I even found
whale wallpaper--LOL.
The latest news in my life is that I have graduated from ECU...as of May
9, 2003, I am officially an Alumnus of ECU..with a BS degree in Elementary
Education. I am certified to teach in grades Kindergarten through the
6th grade. I am thrilled and owe it all to my husband, who made it possible
for me to complete my degree. He put up with the many tears and
stressed-out nights over tests and homework. I am a Third grade teacher at a local school, one that I worked as a substitute teacher in for about four years. It is nice to be there, since I know everyone there, and to be an "official" staffer is terrific!! Teaching was always a
dream of mine, and I have reached the goal of becoming a teacher.
Thanks
you SO much Vann!! I LOVE YOU!
Vann and I have been together for over 17 years now--we started dating in
High School. He is a terrific man that supported me the entire time I was in school. Vann has been involved in a few very interesting projects over this past year. He has recently begun to work on rebuilding a 1986
IROC, going so far as to rip out the carpet and interior, to replace it with the interior of a wrecked IROC. He also has a
1967 Camaro, which he bought when we were in high school. Another "project" he was involved with was a mission trip to Africa with our church. They went to a tiny country near the eastern coast of Africa to help with a home being built for children who have been orphaned by AIDS. This is associated with "The Door of Hope" project, and we would love for you to click the link to find out more. It was a special time for all that went, and it certainly opened the eyes of the mission team members. I am going to post some of Vann's pictures as well, of the beautiful country views of Africa. It is such an awesome place!! Vann is a special person to me, and is a wonderful hubby!
We have a daughter named Andrea, and she turned 13 years old
on February 13th, 2004. She is growing up entirely too quickly!!
Andrea is going to be an EIGHTH grader!! YIKES!! Time sure does fly by. She is a
good student. She has many friends--and since we live in a small town, she
sees many of the same kids each year. This makes for much talking in class.
*S* She is nothing like her QUIET mom....(heehee Yeah right) LOL She always
loves her teachers, and she is a WONDERFUL student. *S* When we are home,
she likes to play school, sing, dance, and torture the cat. On
our picture page here, there are a couple of pictures from her dance class
days--she loves dancing, but didn't want to continue taking classes. We
agreed, that since school is getting harder and taking more of her time,
and the dance classes were almost an hour's drive for us, that she would
stop taking classes.
Andrea was able to start taking band in Middle School...she is
learning to play the trumpet. Vann played the trumpet in school, so Andrea
is using his trumpet, and is doing very well. So far, she has
played solos in quite a few concerts, and was even asked, last year by the school's
principal, to play at the 8th grade graduation. It is a HUGE honor for a
first year band student to be asked to perform, and we are very proud of
her.
Andrea is a sweet young woman, and growing up a lot faster than we'd like
her to. She now has three younger cousins--and after a visit from
them(Jason, Kara, and Nicholas)--she decides it isn't so bad being an only
child. We kind of like her being an only child--the thought of one car and
one college education is very appealing to Vann and I.
This page will not be as exciting as others are(yet) but these are my
favorite things, and I love to talk about them. I have put some links on
this page--I hope you will take the time to visit those places. *S*
Vidman's page(hubby) has lots of good information on Van Halen and crabs
and hubby's car....LOL. A few of my friends--Dragon, Linda, and Lolla--are
all GREAT at graphics and designs, and have set up business pages--they
have helped me on this page some.*S* THANKS GUYS!! And of course--check
out the links to some whale sites. *S* Take time and go visit these sites.
*S* Thanks.....
Please visit the other pages here on my website. Page two is my Whale Page. Another page you should check out is Andrea's page. There are many pictures of her for you to see--at different ages. Picture Page
